Engagement photo sessions play a big part in the Black Sheep Events & Design Experience! It’s a perfectly casual way for us to photograph you before your wedding day. We get to know each other better and it gives you the first experience of having your love story photographed.
1. Pick the right location
Step one to making this session perfectis picking the perfect location! We love it when couples pick a location that’s special or unique to them! What places draw you as a couple? It could be the mountains, the beach, a favorite park, or the city. Are there hobbies you like to do as a couple that could be incorporated? Don’t worry if a location doesn’t come to mind, we are always here to help and love finding the right locations that help couples get energized about their photos.
2. Wear the right outfit
This is an important question that’s frequently asked. We say: Don’t try to match. Instead, pick outfits and accessories that coordinate. What’s your personal style? You want to feel comfortable, confident and photo-ready. It’s okay to get glammed up and dressy, or if you’re the casual type, you may want to dress down. Most patterns are okay except when they look TOO busy (like floral or small plaid patterns). Stick with something that’s not too distracting because the focus should be on your love story and not your shirt.
3. Schedule your session in advance
Always try to schedule your engagement photo session at least one month from the date you wish to book, especially if you need help scouting out the perfect location. If you are planning to use the photos for your save-the-dates,then schedule the photo session at least 6-8 months out from your wedding date.
Bonus: Bring a prop or a pet!
Sometimes bringing a special pet or unique prop can kick your photos up a notch and are a fun way to express your love story!
